Words of actual survivors of WW II and their family members! I had to lay book aside to gather my feelings of remorse and pity for people who were involved and survived and pity for those who didn't! This should have been written long ago!
History comes alive through the personal accounts of the people who were there—who lived it. A fascinating read!
The small details of life in the middle of German occupation and the creativity of the individuals' resistance is inspiring and fascinating. It's an adventure tale of life in a time when one's choices had serious consequences.
I had the pleasure of meeting Astri a year ago at the Grieg Hall, for her book signing. I have a close friend, who was featured in the book and couldn't believe what she had to endure, during the 5 year occupation. I really enjoyed the format and looked forward to hearing each and every eye witness account. I am forever grateful to Astri, for opening my eyes to the history of the Norwegian occupation. I learned a lot about my friend and the sacrifices her countryman made at the hands of their German occupiers. I couldn't put the book down! Great Read!

I have read many books about Norway during WW II. Grieg Lodge Remembers gives the broadest perspective of what it was like, due to the fact that it contains the individual stories of a variety of survivors of the German occupation. I highly recommend it to those who wish to learn what their friends and relatives lived through during the five darkest years of Norwegian history.
